On December 21, 2023, the Modern Theater will once again present a large-scale play “War and Peace” based on Tolstoy’s novel of the same name in an original theatrical production by the theater’s artistic director, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Yuri Grymov. The performance - a mystery - is distinguished by a synthetic action, which is based on the story of Pierre Bezukhov, his transformation from Pierre to Pyotr Kirillovich. His doubts and path of formation reflect the entire spiritual history of the Russian intelligentsia of the 19th century. The play also depicts the fates of representatives of the Russian nobility: Andrei Bolkonsky, Natasha Rostova, Anatoly Kuragin, Fyodor Dolokhov, Marya Bolkonskaya, Count and Countess Rostov, old Prince Bolkonsky, Helen Bezukhova...
