Venice Film Festival 2024: what is known, dates, jury president
The oldest film festival on the planet, the Venice Biennale or Venice Film Festival, will be held for the 81st time this year from August 28 to September 7, 2024.
The last ten years have been truly stellar for the Venice Film Festival. The festival hosted premieres of major film studios, blockbusters and Hollywood celebrities. Venice has become as important a festival as the Cannes Film Festival. The main revolutionary of the biennale, Alberto Barbera, will remain as artistic director of the show in 2025 and 2026.
In 2024, French actress Isabelle Huppert became president of the jury of the Venice Biennale. The trend for women on juries is also supported this year in Italy. In 2024, American Greta Gerwig (director of “Barbie”) was elected president of the Cannes Film Festival. Italian actress Sveva Alviti will conduct the opening and closing ceremonies of the show.

It is already known that Australian film director Peter Weir (The Truman Show, Dead Poets Society, Master of the Seas: At the End of the Earth) will receive the Golden Lion for achievements in cinema.
