In Moscow, on February 16, the Ruarts gallery hosted the opening of the exhibition “Natural Philosophy,” which presented a series of works by photographer Mikhail Rozanov. The exhibition is dedicated to parks in Russia and Europe and is supplemented by scientific comments by historian and writer Andrei Karagodin.

The work of Mikhail Rozanov is called the art of designing signs in a cold, harmonious and refined manner. His black and white photographs are imbued with the philosophy of transforming objectivity through pure sensations and feelings beyond the limits of the mind. Mikhail's postmodern minimalism is characterized by laconic means of expression, simplicity, accuracy and clarity of composition. He always begins his artistic practice with a deep study and aesthetic understanding of the object. A distinctive characteristic of Mikhail Rozanov’s photographs is the geometry of abstract structures, which proclaims that the basis of art is not an image, but a speculative composition. Each photograph of Rozanov is the result of thoughtful conceptual and iconographic decisions. And the transformation of reality into philosophy for the author presupposes the desire to discover the sublime in everyday life. Invites the viewer to distract from visible objects and accept the only predicate of the image - “to be a concept.”

In the “Natural Philosophy” project, constantly changing natural forms become the basis of the plot. The exhibition presents photographs of six garden ensembles: the Villa of Emperor Hadrian, the Boboli Gardens, Versailles, Sans Souci, Tsarskoye Selo and Pavlovsk. The viewer will be able not only to get acquainted with another side of the multifaceted talent of Mikhail Rozanov, but also to learn more about the philosophy of park culture through the comments of historian Andrei Karagodin.
