Aivazovsky and the Tsar Bell of Chaumet at the auction of the Moscow Auction House

Moscow auction house

On February 18, 2024, the Moscow Auction House will hold auctions of works from the XNUMXth to XNUMXth centuries, which are of particular value to antique lovers.

Among the works are paintings, graphics, statues and designer dishes. There are also works by Repin, Levitan, Vereshchagin, Korovin, Kustodiev and Roerich.

The top lots are: Konstantin Korovin’s painting “The Neskuchny Garden” (28 million rubles) and landscapes by Ivan Aivazovsky – “Moonlit Night” (with traces of restoration, estimated at 100 million rubles) and “Ship at sea against the backdrop of mountains.”

Also presented at the auction:

  • “6 porcelain plates” (2001 – 2002) by Vladimir Nemukhin, a Russian artist and one of the classics of the second wave of the Russian avant-garde.
  • A smaller model of the Tsar Bell (Uspensky Great Bell), made by the French jewelry house Chaumet more than 100 years ago. The monument of Russian foundry art itself was cast by order of Empress Anna Ioannovna in 1733 - 1735 and still amazes tourists with its gigantic size. It is considered the largest.
  • For the first time at an auction in Russia, Joshua Reynolds’ work “Portrait of the Earl of Portmore” (1758) will be presented. Experts value the painting at 15 million rubles.
