Lyubov Miloserdova presented the collection “Rachmaninov. Inspiration" at Moscow Fashion Week
At Moscow Fashion Week at VDNKh on March 3, 2024, a show by designer Lyubov Miloserdova took place. The Lyubov Miloserdova brand is limited premium ready-to-wear collections, a capsule approach and the possibility of individual development and creation of unique models.

The founder of the brand, Lyubov Miloserdova, is a clothing designer, finalist of Russian and international clothing design competitions, and a regular participant in fashion shows in Russia.
Magazine The Status Symbol talked to the designer. Today we are publishing an interview with Lyubov Miloserdova.
Tell us about yourself. How did your journey as a designer begin?
I have been sewing since childhood, inspired by the work of my grandmother, who created beautiful custom-made items for her clients. I liked to draw, and at the age of 6 my mother took me to an art school, where I studied for 10 years, and after graduating from school I entered the University to major in costume design and created collections. At different times I took part in competitions: “Kremlin Stars” (2011, 2012), “Fashion Assembly”, Competition of Models, Talents and Designers on Hainan Island in China (2011). I took the “Stylist-Image Maker” course, a course on creating my own clothing brand at Fashion factory school. In 2019, I registered the trademark Lyubov Miloserdova.

How are you currently developing your brand? Who is Lyubov Miloserdova's girlfriend?
The Lyubov Miloserdova brand is developing in two directions: it is an author’s atelier, where I work with a woman’s individuality, designing and creating capsule wardrobes, costume groups and luxuriously elegant dresses. And the second direction is the creation of ready-to-wear collections. Each new collection is a beautiful story told through shapes and silhouettes, where the fabric itself sometimes suggests cut options and dictates the shape. It is always a play with fabric texture, built on contrast and layering. The drama of the image is conveyed through the silhouette of the shoulders, waist, and hips, creating ideal proportions. A collection is always an idea and concept, working with a source of inspiration.

A woman who prefers the Lyubov Miloserdova brand is always in the spotlight. She creates her own style and her own uniqueness. There is a depth to the costume and the image as a whole... She perceives clothes and fashion as a game, and clothes always give her a resourceful state. She is intelligent and likes to get admiring glances when she walks into a room and everyone pays attention to her. She likes to be a woman, and she is not afraid to show her feminine qualities: to be weak, fragile, sensual... and in this she sees her strength. The outfits she chooses should evoke aesthetic pleasure: from tactility to visual perception of the texture of the fabric, shape, silhouette and even the reverse side.
The new collection of the Lyubov Miloserdova brand is called “Rachmaninoff. Inspiration". Tell us about why you were inspired by music, a completely non-visual art?
I have always been fascinated and inspired by Russian art - literature, music, ballet... It is so diverse and had such a great influence on world culture that it inspired, among other things, such great fashion designers as Paul Poiret and Yves Saint Laurent. I saw how other designers, including our compatriots, interpret the Russian theme. I, too, have long wanted to create something of my own, dedicated to the Russian theme... and... in December 2022, Tatyana Abdulina, an opera singer, soprano, soloist of the Tambov Concert, approached me. She proposed doing a collaboration: a kind of synthesis of fashion and music, modern costume art and her performance. This idea really resonated with me, it’s exactly what I wanted. The name of Sergei Rachmaninov came as if by itself; I remembered his wonderful music, sounded every year at the Lilac Nights festival. Moreover, this year marks its 150th anniversary.
Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninov is a brilliant Russian pianist and composer, his works constitute the golden fund of world classical music. He became one of the symbols of the Tambov region, where Sergei Rachmaninov has a special attitude. He often visited Tambov land in the village of Ivanovka and wrote many of his brilliant works here. He also has a rich vocal heritage. Rachmaninov's romances can be called “the pearl of Russian music”; most of them are written to poems by great Russian lyric poets (Pushkin, Lermontov, Fet, Koltsov). Rachmaninov’s romances are called “confession of the soul”, they mainly contain spring-summer moods, for him they are a symbol of renewal.
Sergei Rachmaninov had a very beautiful story in his life - even a mystery related to the white lilac flowers that a secret admirer gave him, remaining in the shadow of her wonderful gesture. They never met. Her name was Thekla Russo. A subtle, intelligent, poetic soul who gave a beautiful fairy tale without demanding anything in return - elegantly, Christianly, selflessly... Tell us more about the collection. You have chosen amazing fabrics.
Any of my collections begins with a choice of fabric, when the texture and plasticity of the fabric itself determine the shape and silhouette, and so it was this time: silk organza, taffeta, light and flowing fabrics. Just from their selection alone I received great pleasure when it all began to come together into a single picture. And the color palette chosen was light pastel, built on the nuances of these beautiful shades, reminiscent of a blooming garden, spring, love, renewal. I only had such associations while listening to the wonderful music of Sergei Rachmaninov, especially his work “Vocalise”, to which the show takes place.
A collection of flowing blouses and suit groups, cocktail and evening dresses, built on the nuances of color combinations, on the play of textures and layers, inspired by the work of the great Russian composer.
Evening looks from the collection are complemented by very practical belt bags!
The collection's quilted bags are my original creation. They appeared in my last collection (cocktail capsule) “Like the light flap of a butterfly’s wings.” Continuing the butterfly theme, I named this model Aglais. I highlight three options for using a bag: in the hand, on the shoulder and on the belt. The double-sided velvet ribbon and metal chain are conveniently attached to the carabiner rings. You can choose the bag size mini (11 x 15.5 cm) or midi (14 x 19 cm), taking into account the size of your phone.
