At the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, Martin Scorsese, an American director, producer and screenwriter, received an honorary Golden Bear for his lifetime achievement at the awards ceremony at the Berlinale Palace on February 20, 2024.

“For anyone who believes in cinema as the art of creating a story that is both personal and universal, Martin Scorsese is an unrivaled role model. His films made our history as viewers and people, his characters lived and grew within us, his view of history and humanity helped us understand and question who we are and where we come from. His latest film, Killers of the Flower Moon, is one of his greatest achievements. As Scorsese himself so eloquently said, the film "confirms the extent of the horror experienced by the Osage community, and may also provide some solace." I am very pleased to welcome back a good friend of the festival and present him with our most prestigious honorary award,” testifies the duo of Berlinale directors Mariette Rissenbeck and Carlo Chatrian.
