George Lucas to receive honorary Palme d'Or at Cannes

Hollywood legend, director, screenwriter and producer George Lucas will receive the honorary Palme d'Or on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the closing ceremony of the 77th Cannes Film Festival.

George Lucas is known as the author of the epic films “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones”. Lucas made his film debut thanks to Francis Ford Coppola. George Lucas will turn 14 on May 2024, 80.

The Cannes Film Festival has always held a special place in my heart. I was surprised and delighted when my first film, THX-1138, was selected to be featured in a new program for first-time directors called Directors' Fortnight. Since then, I have returned to the festival several times in various capacities as a writer, director and producer. I am honored to receive this special recognition, which means a lot to me, -
