Lumiere Gallery presents an exhibition of photographs of the Thaw by Vladimir Lagrange

Lagrange. To work 1967

Vladimir Lagrange (1939 – 2022) – the first classic of Soviet photography, Soviet and Russian reporter and photographer. Over the years, he collaborated with leading publications, including TASS, Literaturnaya Gazeta, Komsomolskaya Pravda, APN, Paris Match, Freie Welt. In 2024, the master would have turned 85 years old. The Lumiere Gallery exhibition is called “Imprint of the Epoch” and is dedicated to Lagrange’s anniversary and will be held in the space on Bolshaya Polyanka from March 21 to September 8, 2024.

“Acuity of perception and sensitivity to the heroes of his time became decisive in the work of the master. His thirst for life and tireless creative search are embodied in a rich visual archive, with which the Lumiere Gallery has been working for more than twenty years,” say representatives of the Lumiere Gallery. “The basis of the project was Lagrange’s little-known works, revealing one of the most productive periods of the author’s work: “Installation of power lines, 1971”, “Intermission in the Kremlin, 1960s”, “Hurray, vacation! 1984." The presented stories with portraits of workers, images of Thaw childhood, and essays commissioned by the publishing house offer a more in-depth study of the author's creativity. The exhibition also featured iconic works beloved by collectors and photography enthusiasts, such as “Goalkeeper, 1961”, “Get to Work. Moscow, 1967", "In a hurry. 1960s", "Young ballerinas, 1962". Since 2007, Russian and foreign photographic collections have been replenished with works by Vladimir Lagrange. At the moment, the author’s prints are represented in more than eighty private collections.”
