At the premiere of James Gray's Ad Astra, the main protagonist Brad Pitt rocked the calm and business-like atmosphere of the Venice Film Festival. Already in the morning, before the red carpet, fans left ladders, umbrellas and tents in anticipation of their idol. Brad showed up on the red carpet and blew up the Lido to the divine cosmic music of Max Richter from the film. Amid hysterical cries of “Brad” and “Pitt,” the actor kindly signed autographs and patiently took pictures with cinephiles.

“Why do we live?” and “Why do we continue to fight?” — the key questions in James Gray’s new film “Ad Astra.” The main character, Roy McBride (Brad Pitt), answers “to live and love.”

Near future. Humanity has mastered space, where, in the struggle for resources, it actively divides zones of influence. People flee from earth to other planets, where they recreate the same world, aimed at consumption and profit.
Astronaut hero Roy McBride is annoyed by this. It was not for the sake of such ideals that his father Clifford (Tommy Lee Jones) explored space, risking his life.

However, the high-tech world faces a new threat from space. The American command believes that it was caused by the actions of an astronaut who rebelled against the system. 29 years ago, the commander sent on an expedition to search for alien life remained in Neptune's orbit and changed the planet's magnetic field. The persistent explorer believes in the dream and continues to search for life beyond the earth, which is now in danger.

On earth the hero has a son, a talented astronaut. Like his father, he selflessly serves the Fatherland, which this time will call on his son to kill his father. What will Cliff do?

In the picture, space appears as a place of loneliness. Infinite space recreates the microcosm of the human soul. Fearlessness helps the hero find himself.

An excellent script and direction, a brilliant cast and Richter’s amazing music made the film “Ad Astra” with Brad Pitt a must-see.
