Red carpet of the 45th opening ceremony of the Moscow International Film Festival
The Moscow International Film Festival is taking place in Moscow from April 20 to April 27, 2023. On April 20, 2023, the opening ceremony was held at the Rossiya Theater. At the traditional briefing, festival president Nikita Mikhalkov said that this year 222 films from 64 countries will be shown at the MIFF. Moreover, countries of the European Union participated in the production of 61 films. The festival itself was attended by 128 people from 35 countries, not counting participants from Russia.

At the opening of the ceremony, a video dedicated to the history of the MIFF was shown, and the actor Egor Beroev acted as the host. He presented the festival prizes made by the Mercury jewelry company, the competition programs of the show and the jury. Thus, the short film will be judged by Bangladeshi cinematographer Juboraj Shamim, Russian actress Alena Babenko and Italian actor, director and screenwriter Giorgio Cunho. The best documentary film will be chosen by Russian director Yulia Sergina, Korean poet, film critic, producer, director Kim Jigon and one of the leading Chinese directors, Bachelor of History, Master of Literature, member of the Chinese Film Association Hao Yun. The jury of the youngest competition “Russian Premieres”, which appeared at the Moscow International Film Festival only last year, included actress Anna Snatkina, screenwriter and producer Andrei Zolotarev and director Alexey Uchitel.
In the main MIFF competition, 11 films from 16 countries will be presented, taking into account co-production projects. “St. George” for acting and directing, a special prize and the main prize - for the best film - will be distributed by the jury consisting of Russian actress Svetlana Ivanova, Kazakh actress Samal Yeslyamova, Russian actor and producer Alexey Guskov, Colombian director Ciro Guerra. The chairman of the jury of the main competition is one of India's leading filmmakers, Rahul Ravel. It was to him, according to tradition, that the president of the show, Nikita Mikhalkov, presented a traditional chain with the image of St. George the Victorious.
