What to expect from the Cannes Film Festival in 2018?

"Changes!" - proclaims Thierry Fremaux, program director of the film festival. A very important 70-year milestone has been passed, but to remain young, you need to constantly change and develop. Among the obvious changes is that the festival is now held earlier: from 8 to 19 May.

The Cannes Film Festival is becoming increasingly involved with Hollywood cinema. This year the jury of the festival's main program will be headed by an Australian actress Cate Blanchett, and the jury of the Golden Camera is a Swiss director Ursula Meyer. The feminist theme has been raised more than once at the festival, which is why women are now on the jury. This gorgeous sorority is complemented by a Frenchman Bertrand Bonello as head of the Cinefondation and short film jury.

Additionally, Cannes is known for its respect for the classics. "A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick will be reborn thanks to the participation of Warner Bros, which carefully restored the masterpiece, and a great admirer of Kubrick’s talent Christopher Nolan.

Possible expected premieres of the festival include Xavier Dolan’s new film “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan”, Jacques Audiard’s new film with Jake Gyllenhaal….
